NHRA JR. DRAG RACING LEAGUE WESTERN CONFERENCE FINALS KICKS INTO HIGH GEAR



           MORRISON, Colo. (July 8, 20010) – Racing kicked off today for hundreds of kids and the
2010 NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League Western Conference Finals at Bandimere Speedway.  The
facility, just outside of Denver, plays hosts to kids ages 8 to 17 years old and their families for the
annual event presented by Lucas Oil and JR Race Car.  Competitors in nine categories race in half-
scale dragsters at speeds up to 70 mph on the eighth-mile track in search of both team and
individual honors and a share of nearly $100,000 in savings bonds.

           Today was day one of the 3-day event which included two time trail runs for all
competitors.  Bandimere Speedway also hosts a number of events leading up to the Western
Conference Finals extending the event to a full week of fun activities for all.

           Friday’s action will include a single, and final, time trail for all racers and then round one
of eliminations scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.  Saturday will consists of the remainder of
eliminations and the crowning of champions in the 8 to 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16 to 17 year-
old age groups as well as the Jr. Comp Champion and the Team Champions from tracks
throughout the western United States.  Each team is made up of 10 racers.

           Seven of the nine champions from last year’s event are on the entry list and are looking to
double up this year including Colorado racers Jeremy Romero of Littleton, Colo., and Travis
Thorsten of Avada, Colo. Bailey Jones, Wichita, Kan., is returning as last year’s 8-9 year-old
champion as well as a member of the 2009 Team Champions from S.R.C.A. Dragstrip in Great
Bend, Kan. Jones is again racing for the team from S.R.C.A. Dragstrip.

ELIMINATIONS UNDERWAY AT THE NHRA JR. DRAG RACING LEAGUE WESTERN
CONFERENCE FINALS

           MORRISON, Colo. (July 9, 2010) – Day two for the NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League Western
Conference Finals presented by Lucas Oil and JR Race Car began with a final time trail for all
competitors followed by round one of eliminations at Bandimere Speedway.  Hundreds of kids,
ages 8 to 17, from NHRA member track across the western United States and Canada, made the
trip to thunder mountain and are battling for individual and team honors, and a share of the purse
worth nearly $100,000 in savings bonds.  The event kicked off Thursday with initial time trials and
will conclude on Saturday with the crowning of winners in eight age brackets and Jr. Comp, as
well a champion team.

           Defending Champions from the 2009 event that advanced through the first round to race on
Saturday were Bailey Jones, Mikayla Greene, Travis Thorsten, Taryn Greene (no relation to
Mikayla), Dalton Dorsett, and Chaysse Trimp.

           A number of special awards were given out today including some from on track action as
well as off track.  Lauren Turner, Verndale, Minn., and running for Brainerd International Raceway
was awarded the Best Overall Appearing Car while Travis Steffens of Sherrill, Iowa, and Tri-State
Raceway took honors for the Best Appearing Theme Car.  The Team from Kearney Raceway Park,
Kearney, Neb., won the Best Appearing Track award and a local racer from Bandimere Speedway,
Julia Ware, Loveland Colo., was voted the Coolest Car of the event.

           The on track awards for Closet to the Dial went to Caleb Criss in the 8-9 year old class,
Baily Jones (10 year old) who was last year’s 8-9 year old Champion , Ashley Kosmerl (11), Jordan
Pratt

(12), Christopher Dodd (13), Dakota Allison (14), Lindsie Woolley (15), and Trevor Ruge (16-17).  In
the Best Reaction Time awards, Mackenzie Mock took the 8-9 year old class; Nicholas Contreras
was on top for the 10 year olds, 11 year old honors went to Mitchell Pennetta, Blaine Flanscha in
the 12 year old class, Whitely Bettis for 13, Emily Durenberger and Elizabeth Halley took the 14
and 15 year old classes respectively, and Jordan Stewart and Hailey Combs tied for the best
reaction in the 16-17 year old class.

           Gates at Bandimere Speedway open at 8 a.m. on Sunday with round two of eliminations

WICHITA RACEWAY TAKES TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP; JONES GOES TWO FOR TWO WITH REPEAT

           MORRISON, Colo. (July 10, 2010) – Team number one from Wichita Raceway Park out of
Iowa Park, Texas, took home the Team Championship for the 2010 NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League
Western Conference Finals presented by Lucas Oil and JR Race Car today at Bandimere Speedway
outside of Denver.  The team gathered 34 points for the win and was led by Emily Herod of
Jacksboro, Texas, who won the 16-17 year old class.  Tri-State Raceway, Earlville, Iowa, took the
No. 2 spot in the team standings with 30 points followed by the No. 3 team from host track
Bandimere Speedway in the third spot with 29 points.

           Herod held off Grant Snedeker, Chickasha, Okla., with a pass of 7.953 seconds at 79.22
mph while Bailey Jones, Wichita, Kan., took home his third NHRA Wally trophy in two years
winning the 10 year old division over Aaron Philpot of Boerne, Texas.  Jones won the 8-9 year old
class last year and was also a member of the 2009 Team Champions from S.R.C.A. Dragstrip.          

           Three Colorado racers earned winner honors this weekend with local racer Kaitlyn Tripp,
Golden, Colo., picking up the win in the Visions Race Cars Jr. Comp class with a 6.918 second
pass at 95.83 mph over Curtis Moffer, Modesto, Calif., who clocked in at 96.22 mph.  Running for
Pueblo Motorsports Park, Sebastian Vennard, Castle Rock, Colo., held on for the win in the 11
year old class against Sydney DeLuzio, Strasburg, Colo., and Victoria Flores of Littleton, Colo.
outran Lakewood, Colo., racer Cruise Worthley in the 14 year-old group with a lap of 7.948
seconds at 78.39 mph.

           Oahe Speedway got on the winner’s board as Carly Jo Ellingson, Rapid City, S.D. downed
Elizabeth Halley, Placentia, Calif. in the all girl final for the 15 year old class.  Ellingson clocked in
at 7.968, 79.98 mph.  Keoki Desa of North Las Vegas, Nev. and running for Las Vegas Motor
Speedway won over Tori Greene, Burleson, Texas, in the 8-9 year old class while Travis Steffens,
Debuque, Iowa, won out of the Tri-State Raceway stable in the 12 year old division.  Steffens, beat
Richelle DeYoung, Littleton, Colo. with a run of 9.465 seconds, 68.06 mph.  Conner Anderson,
Spanish Fork, Utah, rounded out the winner’s circle as he won the 13 year old class running for
Western Colorado Dragway.  Anderson went 8.015 seconds at 77.12 for the win against Tanner
Poe, Los Alamitos, Calif. who ran 8.177, 78.87.

           The 8-17 year old kids from the Eastern United States and Canada will get their shot at a
championship when the 2010 NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League Eastern Conference Finals kicks into
gear later this month at Bristol Dragway in Bristol, Tenn.
