Hello Friends,

About the event, It started out with thoughts of the much dreaded rain out. The weather held for the
most part. Soon the air was filled with the sounds of race engines starting and the smell of leaded high
octane race fuel. A" welcome to all" came over the intercom and instruction for staging lane procedure.
Walking through the pits is really cool, all the people are very approachable and like to discuss their
vehicles. I made my way past the line of cars going through tech and down to the burnout box. Let the
carnage begin!!!! Smoke em if ya got em!! There is nothing like the smell of trac bite and burning drag
slicks. After a bunch of burnouts and a few wheel standing runs the rain came. The delay was brief, just
some lite sprinkles. There was a good mix of imports, muscle cars, and full race vehicles. The import guys
broke a few axles and the oil downs were kept to a minimum. The fastest pass was in the 7.20s by a top
sportsman dragster. Around 4:45 the rain returned and ended the day, but it was a successful season
opener! Thanks,
                        Matt
